One World Scholarship BC Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a One World Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be citizens of the designated country for the scholarship year
  • As a minimum requirement, applicants must be completing the equivalent of senior high school with at least B+ or equivalent academic standing. Applicants who have completed one or more years of post-secondary study must have at least a B+ or equivalent academic standing for their highest level of education attained.
  • Applicants must meet or exceed the English language proficiency requirements to be granted direct entry to the institution's academic degree or certificate/diploma program.
  • Applicants must have applied for admission to, or been accepted by, their institution(s) of preference in BC at the time of applying for a One World International Scholarship.
  • Awards will only be made to those applicants who register for full-time studies (defined as 60% or more of a full course load) at a BC public post-secondary institution.
  • Applicants must be enrolling in full time studies in a program that is at least one academic year in duration, and that leads to a credential upon successful completion.

Selected award recipients will be expected to accept their award and begin their study term within nine months after the date of notification by their home institution regarding the award.

Should the student be unable to participate in the planned studies after being awarded the scholarship, she/he will have to notify the institution's One World Scholarship representative immediately. In this case, any scholarship funds already paid out to the student will have to be returned to the Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society immediately.
