Q: I already started my program. Should I include monthly expenses for the months that already passed in the Financial Needs section?
A: Yes, your expenses can go back to the start date of your program in 2010. If your program started last year, your expenses can go back to January 1, 2010.
For example, if you started a multi-year program in September 2009, and are taking classes full-time from September to April, you should list:
Remember that you are only eligible if the first or second year of your program begins
after January 1, 2010, and before May 15, 2011.
Q: I've been accepted into a program, but don't know for sure when I will start classes. Can I appl?
A: If you are accepted into a program but are waitlisted or not sure when you can start, apply now. Should you be selected for an award, the award will be held for up to one year. If your program starts after May 15, 2011, please apply next year.
Q: My spouse is the sole income earner while I study full time. How do I list my expenses? Do I need to include her income?
A: If you are sharing a household with another person (e.g. spouse, partner, siblings) you should list the portion of household expenses you are responsible for and need to raise through student loans, awards, employment or other income. Your share of expenses for a dependent child or adult should also be listed in the expense section.
If your spouse/partner is able to help with tuition and expenses, please list this as a source of income, same as financial support from a parent, band, or other source.
We do not need to know your spouse's income - only your financial needs and resources during your studies.
